The best-known representatives include EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"174\" data-end=\"431\">EPA is an omega-3 fatty acid that occurs naturally in marine oils. It is the subject of scientific research into its chemical properties, its occurrence in the body and its involvement in biochemical signaling pathways. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"758\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid and a natural component of cell membranes. It is found in particular in tissues with a high lipid content, such as nervous tissue.
