Omega-3 in the diet: where is it found?

Omega-3 fatty acids are mainly found in:

  • oily fish (e.g. salmon, mackerel, herring)
  • Algae oil (vegan source of DHA, partly also EPA)
  • Fish oil as a raw material in food supplements

If fish is rarely on the menu, some people rely on a supplementary intake of suitable products – as part of a conscious diet.

Important note
This article is intended to provide general information about nutrition and scientific research. Omega-3 fatty acids are not a substitute for medical treatment or therapy.
